Attractive opportunity for researchers from developing countries

In 2009, the Humboldt Foundation will, once again, be granting up to 60 Georg Forster Fellowships to researchers from threshold and developing countries.

Both post-doctoral and experienced researchers of all disciplines are eligible to apply. They must pursue a research project relevant to the future development of their country of origin and promote the transfer of knowledge and methods. Fellows work on a research project of their own choosing in cooperation with an academic host at a research institution in Germany. Applications may be submitted at any time; selection committee meetings are held in February, June and October.

In 2008, 164 researchers from more than 40 countries applied for a Georg Forster Fellowship, 58 of them were successful. With 32 approvals the majority of future Humboldtians in this round were natural scientists, followed by 14 humanities scholars and 12 engineering scientists.
