Travel Information

The symposium will take place at the National Academies' conference center in Irvine, whereas participants will be accommodated in the Hyatt Regency, Newport Beach.

The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego and is served by John Wayne-Orange County Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

Arrival/Departure: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

From LAX, you can take the Super Shuttle to the hotel for $38.00. From the baggage claim area, go outside to the center aisle. There should be a Super Shuttle attendant, who will get a Shuttle for you. Tell the driver you’re going to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. (Please note that there is a Hyatt Regency, Irvine which is not the conference hotel.)

To return to LAX, you must make reservations 24 hours before your flight departure time. Please visit the Super Shuttle website (http://www.supershuttle.com) to make reservations for your arrival and/or departure dates. If you are flying out of LAX for your return home, an alternative to the Super Shuttle is Prime Time Shuttle (http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/airportshuttle.html), which offers direct service from the Beckman Center or the hotel to the airport for a flat rate of $47.

Arrival/Departure: John Wayne-Orange County Airport (SNA) / National Airport

John Wayne-Orange County Airport is approximately 10 minutes from the hotel. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service from John Wayne-Orange County Airport and is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. leaving the hotel every hour on the hour and picking up at the airport at approx. 15 minutes past. The shuttle picks up outside the baggage claim area in the “Ground Transportation” area. Please find further information on the airport at: http://www.ocair.com

Depending on need, transportation to SNA and to the hotel will be provided after the symposium ends. Transportation to LAX will not be provided.
