There is no doubt that Potsdam, the capital of the Bundesland "Brandenburg", surrounded by the waters of the river "Havel" and situated on the southwest border of Berlin, is one of the most beautiful towns in Germany today with a splendid history that is reflected in its grand architecture.

The Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci is located right in the center of Potsdam, opposite the Potsdam Brandenburg Gate on Luisenplatz, and only a five-minute walk away from the beautiful Park Sanssouci with its splendid palaces.
The hotel has 137 comfortable guest rooms and is equipped with Wireless LAN. Unfortunately, there are no PC terminals available at the hotel for checking e-mails. Please be aware that you must bring your own lap top and use the internet access at your own expense (charge of EUR 4,50 per hour, EUR 9 per 5 hours, and EUR 14,50 for 24 hours for Wireless LAN). Please ask for special cards at the reception desk.
There are recreation facilities available, such as sauna, steam bath, (no charge for hotel guests) and a solarium. The attractive surroundings with the nearby Park Sanssouci offer ample opportunity for jogging.
Please note that your room card allows for free public transportation in the Potsdam and Berlin area.
A block of rooms has been reserved for the symposium participants at the Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci. To avoid duplicate reservations, please do not contact the hotel directly. Room charges of all participants will be billed directly to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. However, individuals will be responsible for any incidental charges upon check-out. The following credit cards are accepted by the hotel: Visa Card, American Express, Master Card/Eurocard, and Diner's Club.
Costs for meals as indicated in the conference program will also be covered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for all participants.
The official conference language is English. It will be used for all printed materials, presentations, and discussions.
