Panel discussion with Helmut Schwarz and Federal President Gauck in Bogotá On Friday, 10 May, the President of the Humboldt Foundation, Helmut Schwarz, will discuss the experiences and challenges of international research cooperations with Federal President Joachim Gauck and leading representatives of the German-Colombian research cooperation in Bogotá. The high-calibre panel discussion is the highlight of the one-day research seminar “Investigar en Alemania” hosted by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD) in cooperation with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) and the Colombian government as part of the “Research in Germany” campaign. Approximately 500 academics are expected to attend.

14 November 2012 Humboldtian Sam-Huan Ahn to receive Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Prize This year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will be awarding its Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Prize for outstanding contributions to German language and literature studies to the Korean German language and literature professor and Humboldtian Sam-Huan Ahn. The prize is valued at 10,000 EUR and includes a four-week research stay at a German university.
12 November 2012 The German Science Centre opens in Cairo On November 13th the German Foreign Minister Dr. Guido Westerwelle opens the new German Science Centre (DWZ) in Cairo. German educational and scientific institutions, such as universities, will join forces through the German Science Centre and deepen their ties to Egyptian researchers and economy.

13 September 2012 250,000 EUR award for humanities scholars presented in Heidelberg Seven humanities scholars were honoured with the Anneliese Maier Research Award by the Federal Minister for Research and Technology Annette Schavan in Heidelberg today. The award was established by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to support the internationalisation of the humanities and social sciences in Germany.

15 February 2012 New German Science and Innovation Forum opened in Brazil
On 14 February 2012, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle opened the German Science and Innovation Forum in São Paulo, Brazil. The Humboldt Foundation, DAAD and other science organisations and universities will be setting up representations in the newly opened Forum.
