for academics of all disciplines from abroad, internationally recognised as leaders in their field, to enable them to carry out long-term, ground-breaking research at universities and research institutions in Germany. Value of the award: 3.5 to 5 million EUR.
Anneliese Maier Research Award
for internationally established researchers from abroad from the from the fields of the humanities and social sciences. Award winners are invited to spend a period of up to five years cooperating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues in Germany. Value of the award: 250,000 EUR.

Every year, the award is granted to one researcher working in Germany and one working abroad with the aim of initiating and carrying out research with partners in Germany and abroad respectively. Reimar Lüst Award
for distinguished humanities and social science scholars who have made an exceptional contribution to the enduring promotion of bilateral relations between Germany and their own countries as multipliers in and through the field of academic study. Award winners are invited to spend a period of six to twelve months in Germany. Value of the award: 50,000 EUR.
Philipp Franz von Siebold Award
for a Japanese researcher up to the age of approx. 50 for services to mutual understanding of culture and society in Germany and Japan. One award annually. The award winner is invited to spend up to a year working on research in Germany. Award amount: 50,000 EUR.

to sponsor long-term collaborations between foreign academics, already sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and German researchers. Maximal sponsorship: 50,000 EUR.
Endowed Chair at AIMS Senegal
for an academic who demonstrably conducts application-related research in the field of mathematics and has several years’ experience in heading an independent working group or research institute as well as in training students and doctoral candidates. The endowed chair is the core of a Humboldt Cooperation Centre which will initially be sponsored by the Humboldt Foundation for four years. Maximal sponsorship: 520,000 EUR. Other target groups
German Chancellor Fellowship
for prospective leaders from Brazil, China, India, Russia and the USA, who have completed at least a first degree (Bachelor or comparable degree) and have demonstrated outstanding potential for future leadership in their careers to date. The fellowship allows them the carry out a project of their own choice in Germany over a period of twelve months.
International Climate Protection Fellowship
for prospective leaders from non-European threshold and developing countries who are engaged in the field of climate protection and resource conservation in academia, business and administration and who have completed at least a first university degree and have extensive professional experience in a leadership role. During a one-year stay in Germany fellows will be enabled to conduct a research-related project of their own choice.
Hezekiah Wardwell Fellowship
for young Spanish musicians and musicologists making the transition to professional life to sponsor further training or advanced study at a college of music or university in Germany over a period of two semesters.
