Nominator's project description
Professor Ismail Cakmak from the Sabacini University in Turkey Professor Cakmak is internationally well-known for his research on the susceptibility of nutrient deficient plants to high light intensities and photo-oxidative cell damage under stress conditions. His work on zinc nutrition in cereal crops helped greatly to minimize global problems of zinc deficiency in crops and human nutrition, especially in developing countries. In Germany Professor Cakmak's research will focus on the role of magnesium and potassium in plant growth and stress defense under drought. Professor Cakmak is hosted by Professor Klaus Dittert at Goettingen University |
