Helmut Schwarz new member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The chemist and President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation elected as a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Helmut Schwarz was inducted into the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow in early September in recognition of his key contributions to the chemistry and physics of reactions in the gaseous phase.

Ever since its establishment in 1724, Russia's national Academy of Sciences has conferred this honour on particularly outstanding scientists. The list of Academy members also includes numerous high-level scientists from Germany, among them Alexander von Humboldt, whose name this Foundation bears. To date, there have been ten chemists among the Academy's Foreign Members.
