1st UK-German Frontiers of Humanities Symposium 2019

"Rupture"

May 2 – 5, 2019
Lübeck, Germany

The UK-German Frontiers of Humanities Program (UKGFOH) is an interdisciplinary, bi-national conference jointly conducted by the British Academy (BA) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The conference brings together up to 50 outstanding young scholars from different humanistic disciplines to reach new frontiers of understanding by discussing recent research questions across disciplinary lines. At the same time, the bi-national symposium serves to establish and strengthen ties among all participants and hence provides opportunities for future collaborations and networking. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation will support such collaborations between participants from UK and Germany with its special follow-up program "CONNECT" which allocates residence allowances for working visits in the partner country for up to 30 days.

The symposium takes place once in Germany in 2019 and once in the United Kingdom in 2020. Funding on the German side is provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Participation is by invitation only.
