Award for Germany's Friendliest Immigration Office

Award for Germany's Friendliest Immigration Office

Between 2003 and 2005, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft invited entries for the Award for Germany's Friendliest Immigration Office a total of three times. By granting the award more than once, the Foundation continued to showcase the work of Immigration Offices and its significance for Germany as a location for study and research. It is foreign students' and researchers' experiences with this authority that shape their image of the “official” Germany.

Foreign students, doctoral candidates and researchers in Germany were asked to nominate institutions for the award.

The award for the Friendliest Immigration Office, which was endowed by the Stifterverband, was valued at 25,000 EUR and was designated for infrastructure and further education measures as well as for networking both between authorities and universities/research institutions and between other Immigration Offices.
