It is with great sadness that the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation bids farewell to its long-time Secretary General Dr. Drs. Hc. Mult. Heinrich Pfeiffer, who passed away unexpectedly on 22 December 2016, after a long and fulfilled life.

This year’s award winners Hans Joas and Bryan S. Turner will be honoured by the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Stefan Müller, the President of the Max Planck Society, Martin Stratmann, and the President of the Humboldt Foundation, Helmut Schwarz.

31 July 2015 Wolfgang Frühwald celebrates 80th birthday
The Honorary President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Wolfgang Frühwald, is celebrating his 80th birthday on 2 August. The internationally renowned German studies specialist served as President of the Humboldt Foundation from 1999 until 2007. He was the first humanities scholar to hold this position.
