Invitation to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s New Year’s Reception on 15 January in Berlin

More than 300 international guests expected to attend. Helmut Schwarz, President of the Foundation, to speak on the culture of welcome in Germany.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation traditionally holds its New Year’s Reception in January in Berlin. Once again this year more than 300 international guests from the sciences, academia, the political sector and industry plus Humboldtians who are currently conducting research in Germany will be meeting in the country’s capital for this event. The reception is being held on 15 January in the Leibniz Hall of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The President of the Humboldt Foundation, Helmut Schwarz, will hold the New Year’s address which will also cover the topical issue of the culture of welcome in Germany.

The New Year’s Reception offers young Humboldtians an opportunity to establish new contacts. Fellows and award winners who have just recently come to Germany will meet members of the Humboldt Network who have been living and working in Germany for some time now and have close ties to Germany – a good opportunity to share personal experiences and initiate scientific and academic collaboration.

Journalists are welcome to attend. Photographs and audio recordings are permitted. Please register to attend by using the accreditation form on our homepage. We shall also be happy to arrange interviews upon request; please contact us at presse@avh.de.
