160 young international researchers from 48 countries to meet in Augsburg

Symposium for Wolfgang Frühwald and Fellows‘ meeting of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Augsburg on 28 and 29 October

One hundred and sixty young researchers will be guests at the University of Augsburg from 28 to 29 October 2015 for a network meeting organised by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. These researchers from 48 countries are currently in Germany as Humboldt Fellows and are working together with German colleagues at research institutions throughout the country. The meeting is being held to introduce new Humboldtians to one another and to Augsburg ‒ representatively for Germany as a location for conducting research. Employees of the Foundation will be on hand to provide advice on living and conducting research in Germany.
On Thursday, 29 October, the Humboldtians will visit some of the University’s institutes and report on the focus areas of their current research.
Most of this year’s participants come from the natural sciences (89), followed by 50 participants from the humanities and 21 from engineering. The largest numbers of guests come from China (22), followed by Great Britain, Italy, Spain and the USA (with nine each).

As part of a reception in the evening, Georg Schütte, State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Research and former Secretary General of the Humboldt Foundation, will pay tribute to Frühwald the German studies specialist and education expert.
