Joint press release from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Fraunhofer Society

Initiative for International Research Marketing to be continued

For the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Fraunhofer Society, April marks the start of a new phase of their initiative International Research Marketing - Research in Germany. The project is being financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is part of the Ministry’s Research in Germany ‒ Land of Ideas initiative which has the aim of giving German research achievements and potential for innovation a sharper profile abroad and supporting the research marketing activities of players at universities, research institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany. These efforts are to expand the alliance for international research marketing in Germany and offer further players the opportunity to promote themselves and Germany as a location for research.

Application rounds for three competitions will start in spring 2016. Prizes totalling more than €1.6 million will be awarded to help German universities and research institutions conduct their own international research marketing and raise Germany’s profile as a strong partner and research location in the global science system.

Workshops are to be held in the following years for sharing information on and experience with, for instance, successful concepts, internal networking and knowledge management, or activities at international conferences and fairs. In addition, German research institutions, research alliances and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are to be more closely involved over the entire project period in activities and press trips abroad and in innovation tours in Germany.

Information on all activities, dates and opportunities to participate during the period 2016 to 2019 as well as calls for applications can be found on the Research in Germany website at www.research-in-germany.org.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Fraunhofer Society have been working together since 2010 in the International Research Marketing campaign as part of the Research in Germany ‒ Land of Ideas initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
