Dear reader,

"With freedom comes responsibility", stated Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Humboldt Foundation’s Annual Meeting. In his address, he called for the protection of academic freedom and emphasised, "Your foundation is an outstanding ambassador for our outward-looking and future-oriented nation of science."

And the Humboldt Foundation takes action: At the Philipp Schwartz and Inspireurope Stakeholder Forum in Berlin, 300 experts got together to exchange ideas on the challenges and perspectives for researchers at risk. During the series of events entitled "Fragile Freedom", displaced researchers in the Humboldt Network share their experiences with the audience. And on the market squares in Gera and Zwickau, our President Robert Schlögl spoke to the public about the importance of research in everyday life.

In addition: Another five top international researchers have been selected to receive Germany’s most valuable research award, the Humboldt Professorship – congratulations! And we wish our 2024 Residency Programme all the best for the successful launch of its six-week cooperation. The topic this year is "Power and Knowledge."
Happy reading!
