Dear reader,

“You can see how inspiring the work of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is. And has been for 70 years. Congratulations!” Our 2023 Annual Meeting was not only the largest in the history of the event, it was also a lively birthday party. Our thanks to Federal President Steinmeier and the more than 700 researchers from throughout the world who celebrated this milestone with us!

International cooperation in all disciplines, Steinmeier noted, is absolutely essential for meeting the challenges of our time. And precisely that is the aim of our fellowships and programmes: to strengthen international scientific exchange – despite all crises and in opposition to anti-science inclinations.

One example for this is the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship which brings top international researchers to Germany. Or the Philipp Schwartz Initiative for researchers at risk, which has recently hosted an international conference on academic freedom in Berlin.

You can read about this and much more in our current newsletter.

We wish you interesting reading!
