Dear reader,

The Humboldt Foundation is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Rather than look back and take stock, we’d like to use this milestone to look ahead. So we’ve been asking ourselves, “What’s next?”− in visual terms too. At the inauguration of the Foundation’s new president Robert Schlögl in Berlin, attendees had the opportunity to see the Foundation’s new look. You will find our new corporate design here in our newsletter as well.

We are committed to hope and to moving ahead: We spoke with Robert Schlögl, chemist and expert on new energy systems, in an interview about the Foundation’s role in science diplomacy, in the discussion over diversity and excellence, and in solving global challenges like climate change.

In a time of turmoil and crises, the Foundation is expanding and scaling up its programmes and collaborative activities: In addition to ongoing measures to support researchers from Ukraine, it is now implementing the European Union’s MSCA4Ukraine programme as well, providing assistance and funding in Europe to help a further 124 researchers who are at threat.

We wish you interesting reading!
