Dear reader,

Excellent minds for German science: Ten Humboldt Research Award winners were recently honoured by Federal Research Minister Dorothee Bär in Bamberg in connection with the Global Minds Initiative Germany. Coming from an array of countries including the USA, Canada and South Korea, the recipients will now enrich the German research landscape with their expertise.

The importance of international exchange, particularly in politically tense times, was also demonstrated by the Forum of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative in Berlin. Marking the programme’s 10th anniversary, the 370 guests from throughout the world discussed ways to continue protecting academic freedom and at-risk researchers. This and much more in this newsletter.
