Dear reader,

“Freedom is our most precious possession.” It is therefore all the more important that we join together to protect it, as Humboldt Foundation President Robert Schlögl called for in his New Year’s Message. Despite the tense global situation, he called for optimism and stressed the important role played by global networks: “We strive every day to strengthen resilient academic relations through collaborations all over the world and to protect the freedom of science.” You’ll find the entire text of his New Year’s Message in this newsletter.

In addition: all about the new regulations on AI in the selection department, the newly awarded Georg Forster Research Award winners from the fields of cancer research and anthropology, and much more.
