Dear reader,

It’s an exciting October at the Foundation. The Humboldt Network is delighted to celebrate two new Nobel laureates among its members. Susumu Kitagawa and Omar M. Yaghi have been selected to receive the prestigious award in Chemistry – congratulations! In addition, the German government’s new Global Minds Initiative is gathering pace, with the Humboldt Foundation welcoming the first fellows and award winners who come from a wide range of countries, including Canada, Chile, China and the USA. Another reason we have to celebrate is the recent addition to the Foundation’s executive management team: The America expert Katrin Amian took up her office as our new deputy secretary general on 1 October.

You’ll find more on this and many other topics in this newsletter.
