AIMS: Information for collaborative partners

Information for collaborative partners in Germany

One goal of the German Research Chairs at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is to promote networking between the institutes and German higher education institutions. The future holder of the research chair is therefore expected to collaborate with researchers at universities and non-university research institutions in Germany.

If you are interested in working with a mathematician conducting research in Africa, you can support her or his application with a review.

How to proceed

Please follow the list of questions for collaborative partners in Germany (PDF) when preparing your expert review. We would ask that you answer all the listed questions, so that we can evaluate the applicant fully and fairly. Then please upload this document to a secure area; the applicant will send you the corresponding link to this area by email. Your statement will, of course, be treated as strictly confidential by all involved parties.

Please refer to our website or the programme information for this call to find out exactly what is required of applicants. If you have further questions, we will be happy to advise you: GermanResearchChairs[at]avh.de

Please note

The closing date for applications is 15 May 2023. Please submit your statement in a timely manner.
On top of the Humboldt Foundation's sponsorship for the chair holders, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides funding to support research cooperation between the chairs at AIMS and partners at German universities and research institutes.  You can apply for funding under this DAAD programme.  The call for applications will only be issued after the respective chair holder has been appointed. On the DAAD website you will find  information on already funded projects and further information on this DAAD programme.
