Nominator's project description
| Professor Liu is one of the leading scholars of the history of the Mongols and their interactions with China, Central and Western Asia. He has especially worked on the history of the Chaghataids, the languages spoken in Asia and the history of the Mongolian Yuan dynasty in China. Additionally, he could develop a coherent image of the overland and maritime "Silk Roads". In Germany, he plans to establish an international group of experts for the research on Chinese texts related to the knowledge of West Asia and Europe during the Yuan dynasty. |
