Nominator's project description

Professor Lo is well known internationally for his outstanding research in radio and millimeter astronomy. He has made important contributions to high resolution studies of the Center of the Milky Way and its central supermassive black hole, as well as observations of the interstellar media of nearby star forming galaxies. The hallmark of Professor Lo's research is the application of pioneering observations with front line astronomical instrumentation to fundamental astrophysics problems. During his stay in Germany, he has been carrying out a number of important studies of the central region of the Milky Way and the radio source Sagittarius A-star (SgrA*), which have already led to widely cited publications.
