Nominator's project description
| Professor Nair, a distinguished professor at the School of Forest Resources and Conservation, University of Florida, is a pioneering researcher and an international leader in the field of agroforestry. His current research is focused on biophysical aspects of agroforestry systems. This includes soil productivity and the interaction of different components of the systems. Based on these fundamental processes like carbon sequestration, nutrient exchange between trees and field crops, nutrient turnover and mineralization, designs of agroforestry systems are developed as well as schemes to evaluate the systems. Professor Nair will be involved in conceptualizing and developing a research project to examine the role and potential of agroforestry in Europe. |
