Nominator's project description

Prof. Terry Pinkard is a professor of philosophy and German at Northwestern University. He is one of the best known American scholars in the field of classical German philosophy (i.e. the philosophical tradition from Kant to Hegel), especially in the philosophy of Hegel. He has published four very influential books on this period in German philosophy, among them a highly praised biography of Hegel. He spent his year as a Humboldt-Preisträger as a guest at the Department of Philosophy of the Humboldt University Berlin where he worked on a new translation of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit and collaborated with Prof. Rolf-Peter Horstmann on topics in idealistic metaphysics.
