Nominator's project description
| Professor Seible is internationally renowned for his contributions to the safety and security of bridges and buildings in natural and man-made disasters. His research is leading the design and retrofit of structures to withstand earthquakes and the design and hardening of structures for blast loads. In Germany, too, the focus of his research is on the analytical prediction of extreme event response of structures through the development of full-scale experimental validation techniques. He has pioneered the application of new materials such as polymer matrix composites for extreme event protection. |
