Nominator's project description
| Professor Heikki Solin, University of Helsinki, Finland, is internationally recognised as one of the foremost scholars in the field of Latin epigraphy and as the leading authority in Graeco-Roman onomastics. His unrivalled acquaintance with all the pertinent Graeco-Roman sources has enabled Professor Solin not only to read correctly numerous inscriptions that before him had been barely understood, but also to combine the ever increasing masses of onomastic information in comprehensive studies which deal with many different aspects of the field. In Germany Professor Solin plans to write an "Introduction into Graeco-Roman Onomastics". Professor Solin is hosted by Professor Lebek and Professor Hammerstaedt, both at the University of Cologne. |
