Nominator's project description
| Professor Volkov has gained her outstanding international reputation as a historian mainly from her path breaking studies on the history of Antisemitism and Jews in German and European history of the 19th and 20th centuries. While social historical approaches have been central to her research, she has continuously broadened her fields of interest by covering cultural and political dimensions of history as well. Her numerous publications include specialized monographs and articles as well as broad syntheses, but also biographical work, e.g. on Walther Rathenau. She has decisively contributed to the integration of Jewish history and the general history of Germany and Europe. During her stay in Germany she will prepare a synthesis of German history from the 18th to the late 20th century from the perspective of Jewish history. |
