Nominator's project description

The prize is awarded for Professor Zia's seminal contributions to the theory of critical and numerous interfacial phenomena and the pioneering role he has played in recent years in advancing our understanding of the statistical mechanics of non-equlibrium systems, in particular, of driven diffusive systems. Building on his expertise, his research plan aims at clarifying the physics of driven diffusive systems with open boundaries, together with his German host.
