Nominator's project description

Professor Troy Margrie is an international authority in the study of how the sensory world is represented and processed in the brain. He has developed several key techniques for the investigation of individual identified neurons in vivo, and has applied them successfully to systems as diverse as the vestibular, olfactory, somatosensory and motor systems. During his stay in Germany he will continue these efforts and combine physiological techniques with techniques from molecular biology to delineate the functional anatomical circuits underlying sensory processing.
