Nominator's project description
| Dr. Martin G. Banwell receives the award in recognition of his important contributions to synthetic methodology and the syntehsis of biologically active natural products. Special highlights are the conversion of benzene derivatives into biologically relevant carbohydrate and terpenoids, the elegant use of cyclopropyl intermediates for the first enantioselective synthesis of (-)-colchicine, and the preparation of the potent antitumor alkaloid lamellarin K. These achievments are an excellent basis for a fruitful cooperation with German scientists. |
