Nominator's project description
| Dr. Palmer has been one of the most consistent and significant contributors to the renaissance of Fourier transform infrared photo acoutsitc spectroscopic science since its beginning in 1970's. His contributions have included the essentially unchallenged excellence in research on time-resolved and phase-resolved vibrational spectroscopic characterization of polymer films, liquid crystals and proteins. In a common research project his experiences in FTIR PAS depth profiling will be used to understand the chemical procedures, which create environmental damages on cultural heritages, in this case ink corrosion of paper cellulose on the J. S. Back manuscripts from the 18th centuray. |
