Nominator's project description
| Professor Desiraju is one of the leading scientists in Supramolecular Chemistry which is the understanding of cooperative effects based on weak interactions between molecules. It is one of the most challenging fields in the intersection between Organic Chemistry, Crystallography, Material Sciences and Biology. Crystal Engineering provides the background of this new science, it tries to understand and design the arrangement of molecules in crystals with the principle that the sum of many weak interactions dominates the property of the whole system. This field was passionately pioneered by the laurate and inspired many scientists worldwide. |
