Nominator's project description

Dr. Crans is an established authority regarding the biological chemistry of vanadium compounds with important contributions documenting the importance of structure and speciation in the action of their structures. Her compound design, synthesis and characterization of variety of compounds have already played an important role in animal studies and discovery new compounds with potential insulin mimetic activity. She is actively collaborating with a wide range of life scientists and as a result her work effectively bridged chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology and biology.
