Nominator's project description

As the holder of a chair in modernity at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences of Paris, Professor Remaud is internationally renowned for his research in the fields of social philosophy and political thought, focusing on critical cosmopolitanisms, theories of historicity, common-sense categories and social imaginaries. He was awarded various international fellowships and professorships, he has developed groundbreaking lines of work resulting from innovative choices which help to shape contemporary thinking on society and culture. During his stay in Potsdam he will research on the international networks and philosophical context of cosmopolitanism. To give the academic exchange a wide audience, a conference will be organized in 2013 on the main topic of the cooperation: cosmopolitanism.
