Nominator's project description

Professor Siwy is well-known internationally for her outstanding contributions to the field of basic transport processes of ions through very small channels. Her innovative research combines nanochannel fabrication with relativistic heavy ion projectiles and biochemical surface processing. During her stay in Germany, Professor Siwy will focus on applications of synthetic nanopores as ionic diodes, transistors, and amplifiers for nanofluidic systems and as sensors for biomolecules.
