Nominator's project description
Prof. Bogdanov is a specialist in the study of the ribosome, the particle which - in every living cell - decodes the genetic information and synthesizes proteins. The atomic structure of a ribosome has recently been determined, and the task now facing researchers is to use this complex structural information to understand how the ribosome functions and how antibiotics are able to block it. Prof. Bogdanov plans to carry out such studies in Berlin, using the computer modelling facilities in R. Brimacombe's group (Max-Planck-Institut). |
