Nominator's project description

Professor Leutwyler has done important research work in Quantum Field Theory, especially in connection to the light cone behaviour of currents in hadronic physics and the masses of the quarks. He was co-author of an important paper, which lead to the formulation of the theory of Quantum Chromodynamics. Professor Leutwyler succeeded in deriving exact results in hardronic physics on the basis of Chiral Perturbaton Theory. His findings are important for the interpretation of experimental results, especially in the energy region below 1 GeV. During his stay in Germany, he intends to study the low energy properties of Quantum Chromodynamcs, especially the role of the gluon anomalyan of transition form factors for electromagnetic processes.
