Nominator's project description

As a medical Psychologist, Professor Weidner has made major contributions to our knowledge of stress and heart diseases. She has identified several psycho-social and behavioural factors that play a crucial role in the development of coronary risk factors and recurrent coronary events. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, DAAD and NATO. The proposed project, in collaboration with Professor Krohne, will focus on gender differences in coping with health behaviour and emotions among patients waiting for a heart transplant.
