Nominator's project description
| Professor Hosmane receives the award for the discovery of novel carborane structures, i.e. stable molecules of mixed carbon/boron content. He has further developed the linking of theses systems with metal compounds, thus creating a highly variegated and functionally versatile class of materials. During his research visits to Göttingen and Stuttgart these molecules are being put to use (a) for incorporation into polymerization catalysts using environmentally benign organometallic oxides and (b) for support and modification of advanced materials with special optical, magnetic and electrochemical properties. |
