Nominator's project description
| Professor Dolgopolov is an expert in the field of experimental semiconductor physics at low temreratures. In two-dimensional electron liquids of semiconductor heterostructures he investigated a variety of many-body interactions causing phase transitions and enhanced excitation gaps in quantizing magnetic fields. In collaboration with colleagues in Germany he realized a modification of the Laughlin "Gedanken" experiment and studied the rich electronic phases of layered electeron systems in the quantum Hall effect regime. This continuing cooperation aims at a deeper understanding of collective phenomena in low-dimensional electron systems. |
