Nominator's project description
| Professor Jürg Gasser is a renowned theorist in the area of strong interactions (QCD). He is the author of seminal works on the determination of the light quark masses and one of the founding fathers of chiral perturbation theory (with Heinrich Leutwyler). This has developed into one of the standard tools to analyze nonperturbative QCD. More recently, he has performed high-precision calculations merging chiral perturbation theory with dispersion relations and using nonrelativistic effective Lagrangians to precisely test the chiral structure of QCD. He will collaborate with colleagues at the HISKP (Univ. Bonn) and the IKP (FZ Jülich) on topics related to low-energy QCD. |
