Nominator's project description
| Professor Clark renews the integrative approach to science pioneered by Alexander von Humboldt. He has studied the increasing impact of humankind on the Earth system by synthesizing a wide array of detailed scientific assessments. On this basis, Prof. Clark has developed a vision for the coming decades: the historical perspective of a sustainability transition. Providing the knowledge base for such a transition is the task of the new field of sustainability science, to which Prof. Clark is dedicating his current research. |
