Nominator's project description

Professor Miller has carried out pioneering work in two different areas. In photoelectrochemistry one of his outstanding contributions was employing new spectroscopic techniques to measure ultrafast transfer of an electron from a semiconductor onto a molecular acceptor. In biophysics he has applied ultrafast measuring techniques to elucidate details of protein dynamics. Both contributions of Professor Miller have stimulated further ongoing work by several groups in the world. In Berlin the work is going to continue through collaborations with Professor Frank Willig (HMI), Martin Wolf (FU) and Thomas Elsässer (MBI)
