Nominator's project description

Dr. Francine Ntoumi from the Universite Marien Ngouabi, Brazzaville, Kongo. Dr. Francine Ntoumi is internationally recognised for her leadership in developing and conducting health research in Africa. She has been recognised as the best African female scientist in 2012 by the African Union and received the prestigious Kwma Nkrumah award of the continent. In her research project she will focus on evaluating the impact of malaria intermittent preventive treatment in Congolese pregnant women living in an area of high parasite resistance for sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine. Dr. Ntoumi is hosted by Professor Peter Kremsner at the University of Tuebingen.
