Nominator's project description
| How will the climate change in the near future and what will be the environmental impact? Wolfram Kürschner addresses this question by looking into the past. He uses fossil plants in an innovative way to reconstruct the natural dynamics of atmospheric CO² and its climatic effect; his publications are landmarks in this field. He is also interested in a number of related fields, in particular in the evolution of the C4-photosynthetic pathway in land plants as a response to longterm environmental changes. In the joint research project this scientific problem will be investigated using a variety of palaeobotanical, geochemical and physiological methods. |
