Nominator's project description
| Professor Lieb is one of the most prominent physicists and mathematicians of present times. His scientific achievements range from the solution of concrete physical problems, such as the solution of the ice model, to abstract mathematics. His work has had a great impact in mathematics and physics and more recently in quantum information theory. His scientific programme for the period of his Humboldt Research Award focuses - among others - on non-perturbative quantum electrodynamics. Professor Lieb has received numerous scientific awards and was for many years President of the International Association of Mathematical Physics. |
