Nominator's project description

As holder of Oxford's prestigious Taylor Chair of German and Fellow of The Queen's College, Terence James Reed has, for over three decades, been a key-figure in German Studies, achieving world-renown through his ground-breaking publications on both the Weimarer Klassik and Classical Modernism, with a special emphasis on Thomas Mann. Receiving the Humboldt Award will enable this eminent scholar to further pursue two seminal studies (on "literary genesis" and the German Enlightenment) in co-operation with his German colleagues at Göttingen and Freiburg.
