Nominator's project description
| Professor Smucker is honoured for his outstanding work in Soil Biophysics on aggregate formation processes, on changes in soil functions over more than two decades and in recognition of his internationally well accepted achievements in analytical methods for the quantification of carbon distribution and sequestration inside soil structure units under various land use systems. These research aspects will be deepened during his stay in Kiel with respect to determine the effects of aggregate formation on spatial variations in ion composition and carbon distribution as well as the consequences for microbial and hydraulic transport phenomena. |
