Nominator's project description

Professor Nestola is well known internationally for his outstanding research in the study of the Earth´s interior. He has performed pioneering analytical work on inclusions in so called super deep diamonds. Professor Nestola is an expert in X-ray diffraction of tiny particles using synchrotron radiation in large scale facilities as well as modern X-ray sources in combination with highly sensitive detectors at in-house instruments. During his stay in Germany, he intends to extend his analytical work to the nanoscopic level applying transmission electron microscopy.
