Nominator's project description

Professor Campe's innovative and interdisciplinary research on literature and other modes of knowing from antiquity to the present is internationally recognized. In addition to monographs on the relationship of affect and expression in the 17th and 18th century and on the emergence of the novel in light of theories of calculation between Pascal and Kleist, he has made significant contributions to literary theory and media studies. In Germany, he will pursue his ongoing research on the history of form in literature and related discourses since the 18th century.
